All you need to know about the Indigo Flight Delays!

✈️ Do you know why a Significant Workforce applied for a sick leave which delayed over 54% of flights for Interglobe Aviation Ltd aka Indigo. 


1) Company - It primarily comes down to how the company treats its employees, the airlines have been in the air numerous times for suspending pilots, pay cuts of up to 30%, and a hike of only 6% post it.


2) Market - Indigo employees majorly serve in the domestic market, while Air India opens doors to international opportunities as well. 

3) Better Pay - Yes, Better Pay and facilities are being offered by Air India in comparison. 

4) The TaTa Brand - Known for its trust amongst people is a reason many have highlighted. 

5) Career Growth - It is normal for people to move for better opportunities, however, it was not expected at such an unprecedented scale.

How will this impact in the coming time? 

As more opportunities open with Jet Airways and Akasa, we can expect temporary shifts and halts but there would not be major setbacks due to the sufficient human capital availability coupled with low entry requirements which is Intermediate Cleared (12th Pass). However, as participation of women in the workforce has reduced since the pandemic to record lows this can be a challenge.


Indigo Airlines Delay


A few facts worth knowing about Indigo - 


1) Indigo commands the largest slice of the pie and has a 52-58% stake in India’s domestic aviation market. 


2) The only profitable airline before the pandemic. 


3) The largest airline in India as per no. of Passengers carried and fleet size. (Domestic Market)


A 54% delay was the least one could expect with just a few flight cancellations had this been the US Market with such a severe impact things would have been the other way round.


As per Gov Stats, on-time flight operations on Saturday as of 2nd July were (Coincidentally the same day as Air India's walk-in drive for Cabin Crew) -

🛬GoFirst 88% 

🛬Vistara 86.3% 

🛬SpiceJet 80.4%

🛬Air India 77.1%. 

🛬IndiGo was at the bottom at 45.2%

(Possibly its worst-ever figure)
